Third meeting in Izmir Turkey from Oct. 10 to Oct 17 2014

CAKABEY School is a very particular school. It is a private institution and one of the most exclusive in Turkey. Our group was warmly welcomed both by the headmaster and by all the colleagues of the school. All the facilities are above the standards and we had the possibility to appreciate how everything is at top level.

The main theme of the mobility was “legends and stories of your country”. Students were asked at first to introduce the legends they brought from their own country to the other students and then the legends were performed by international groups in the different sites we visited during the stay (Ephesus, Bergama, and Izmir of course).

A second task was to choose and sing a traditional songs coming from each country. The songs were performed in the international groups. It has been very exciting for all students to sing in a foreign language which was not English of course.

At school there were different interesting workshops like Art, Turkish Language and History, English Classes and social games. A very involving activity was the Turkish Dancing moment where girls and boys dealt with traditional dances.

The teachers had the occasion to exchange points of views on many topics, to compare educational systems and to  enrich our cultural knowledge.

For our students it has maybe been the most important mobility because it gave them the occasion to demolish some prejudices that still exist when thinking about countries slightly different from ours both for culture and religion. Now these students have become aware that differences are often a richness.
